In Barcelona (Spain), a restaurant is reinventing the way we enjoy seafood
La Paradeta offers high-quality seafood, chosen from a market stall by customers themselves and then enjoyed on-site in a cheerful atmosphere.
A unique concept
A stone’s throw from the Sagrada Familia, in the quarter where tourist traps and restaurants with dubious claims of offering home-made produce proliferate, the restaurant ‘La Paradeta’ stands out from the crowd. This distinctive restaurant uses an unusual principle: the customer is invited to browse stalls packed with seafood and fish, from which they can make their choice.
They then get an order number. It’s up to them to sit down where they want in the main room where they can wait for their dish in a lively atmosphere in this unique eatery.
When their number is called, customers collect their orders on a tray, in a system which is remarkably similar to a canteen.
Highlighting the freshness of the products
In the maritime canteen ‘La Paradeta’, the watchwords are fresh produce, self-service and a lively atmosphere. The concept is popular with diners, who have spotted an innovative and quirky idea, and who also appreciate the guarantee of quality seafood, caught nearby and prepared to order on site.
On the establishment’s Facebook page, customers can whet their appetites with the photos of fresh catches, or review their own culinary experience.
