In Catalonia, Spain, a company has launched a fruit and veg vending machine
Spanish SME Lofresco has launched Lof, a vending machine that sells fruit, fresh vegetables and ready-made salads.
The Lof, however, only sells fresh, healthy produce, such as vacuum-packed chopped-up fruit, fruit salads, packets of dried fruit, vegetable sticks, prepared salads (with dressing and utensils provided), and more. These machines offer a radically different range of products from those usually seen in this market, offering the possibility of attracting new customers who previously never bought anything from traditional vending machines.
Lofresco have installed their vending machines in public locations (stations, airports, businesses, and so on), as well as in schools, where they practically corner the vending machine market, since Spanish law imposes limits on these snack distributers in state schools and colleges. For the moment, the company is focused solely on the Spanish market, but wouldn’t rule out expanding into the rest of Europe in the years to come.
