In Chailles, a bakery shares its knowledge via YouTube
In Chailles a bakery has posted behind the scenes’ videos online and videos showing how they create their different products.
Countless bakeries have their own website these days, but very few have a YouTube channel. Marlau is one of them, posting online videos showing how they make typical products. Cakes and traditional baguettes can be found, but are presented in a new light.
The videos aren’t designed as tutorials, but rather video presentations of the job of being a baker. Viewers follow the creation of a Paris-Brest or a strawberry tart live, from prepping the pastry to the final touches. Lively music plays as the ingredients are transformed under the watchful eye of food lovers of all ages. The videos take us behind the scenes in a bakery.
For the Marlau bakery, the challenge isn’t to teach a recipe or a method, but to show off the store’s headline products so to create a craving among potential customers. The effect is working and clients have been convinced: as is shown by the excellent scores obtained on the Pages Jaunes website.
