In Istanbul, a bar that is riding the success of TV show Breaking Bad
Breaking Bad is over. But fans of the show can dive back into the universe of the series… in a café dedicated to it in Istanbul.

Walter’s Coffee Roastery opened its doors in March 2015 in Istanbul. It is based on an innovative concept: it’s the first to be inspired by the show Breaking Bad, which is particularly popular in Turkey.
The name of the establishment refers to the main character in the show, Walter, a chemistry teacher with terminal lung cancer, who decides to produce and sell amphetamines in order to secure his family’s future.
It’s the atmosphere of the laboratory, in which Walter and partner Jesse Pinkman make the amphetamines, which the owner of the venue has sought to recreate. The bar is tiled like an old school chemistry room. On the walls there are chemical formulae inspired by those used by Walter to produce his drugs.
To top it off, the staff wear the same yellow outfits worn by the two partners in the show.
In terms of the food on offer, it’s also faithful to the show: pancakes are decorated in the profile of the protagonist, with blue sugar on the cakes like amphetamines.
Finally, drinks are served in containers with pouring spouts.
