In London, a ‘Quiet Shop’ in the heart of Selfridges shopping centre
Located in the heart of the shopping centre, the Quiet Shop offers a space free of all visual and sound pollution.
Visitors are asked to hand over their shoes and telephones as they enter the shop.
The products on offer have been stripped of their logos: so we find Heinz ketchup or Levis jeans with perfectly blank labels. The Selfridges logo has also been removed from the famous yellow bags distributed by the shopping centre.
Finally the shop is equipped with a ‘Silent room’, a room dedicated to silence and relaxation, far away from the din of Oxford Street.
This Quiet Shop is one of the flagship initiatives of the innovative ‘No Noise’ campaign by Selfridges, which advocates and purer approach to shopping and consumerism.
