In Madrid, a vending machine that changes its prices depending on the weather
In Madrid, 18 Limon&Nada drink vending machines from the Minute Maid brand (part of the Coca-Cola group) have been installed around the city. These aren’t your average vending machines, their prices drop as temperatures rise.
We had fun finding out the following statistics:
- When the temperature is below 25°C, one bottle costs €2
- Between 25°C and 30°C, the price drops to around 1€40 per bottle,
- And if the mercury creeps past 30°C, one bottle will cost you just €1.
These revolutionary machines are installed in strategic local positions around the Spanish capital, including bus stops, parks, and other such places that are crowded or get a steady flow of foot traffic. The idea is ingenious, not only for how it will boost Minute Maid brand recognition, but also the brand’s image.
What’s more, a special app has been developed enabling customers to follow the price fluctuations of the drinks in real-time!
While the goal of this operation was primarily to promote the thirst-quenching benefits of the drink and the brand value, the true potential of the idea is, in actual fact, huge.
