In Paris, Le Calbar combines elegance and relaxation
In Paris there is no shortage of classy establishments. In order to stand out, two young entrepreneurs have decided to set themselves apart from the others by serving customers in their boxer shorts.
Le Calbar has opened near the Gare de Lyon. It was created by two former barmen who have studied mixology and have worked in the biggest hotels in the world, and who also have a great sense of humour.
The reason behind the name comes from the outfits which the barmen wear. They serve the customers in aprons, bow ties… and boxer shorts.
But the concept goes further than that, given that the owners have taken this humorous notion and created an entire universe within the bar, even creating their own brand from the business. This has been developed on social media using funny, original scenes and well-known photographers.
While the concept has inspired curiosity, it’s the luxury nature of the bar which has brought in customers. The products are high quality, the service is impeccable and the decor is subdued and modern. The menu stands out notably for the quality and variety of rum on offer.
The bar even has its own rum ‘l’Edition Calbar’. Every month it organises a tasting evening during which customers are invited to try quality cocktails… in their boxer shorts.
