In Rennes, a bakery has joined forces with a bank
It is possible for two businesses which might seem very different to share the same work space, to the benefit of both parties. The proof comes in the concept of the bakery-bank.
This original concept came as a result of two different things. In 2013, in Rennes, a baker wanted to expand and set up a snack area. At the same time, in the same place, Crédit Agricole wanted to set up a local branch.
The combination worked: the bank and the bakery chose to unite in a common space for the benefit of both parties. Even though there are two doors to get in, there is no wall separating the two businesses.
The bakery takes advantage of the clientele of the bank and the high frequency of customers that they bring in. In return, the presence of a bakery adds a friendly, human touch to the atmosphere of the bank.
This innovation, which is trying to mix two different businesses, has been a success. The bakery became profitable very quickly. And the bank has also turned a significant profit considering the size and location of the branch.
