In Lloret del Mar, a restaurant with an earthquake attraction
The owners of The Disaster Cafe have installed, in the heart of their restaurant, an earthquake simulator which creates tremors reaching 7.8 on the Richter scale.
The restaurant came up with this original attraction to appeal to customers who like powerful sensations: the simulator allows them to experience an earthquake while enjoying their meal.
As with real natural disasters, the seismic shock can occur at any moment. There can be up to ten shocks per day and then none for several weeks.
From the exterior the establishment looks like a traditional restaurant. But on entering, customers see waiters equipped with hard hats and fluorescent jackets. The furniture and dishes are also specially designed to avoid any damage when the earth starts to tremble.
Since it opened, the restaurant has quickly become a must-see attraction in this tourist village in the north of Spain.
