In Paris, a bar has struck up a partnership with an art school charity
Every Tuesday evening, L’âge d’or organises life drawing classes in partnership with the charity La Grande Masse des Beaux-Arts.
La Grande Masse des Beaux-Arts is a charity for students and former students of the National Academy for Fine Arts and the National Academy for Architecture. The bar L’âge d’or, located in the 13th arrondissement in Paris, has set up a partnership with this charity in order to enliven its premises by offering weekly art lessons.
Each week a model comes to pose in the workshop located on the mezzanine floor of the café. The budding painters can come and draw the model for two hours, for a fee of five euros for members of the charity, and ten euros for others.
These sessions have enjoyed a marked success, with an average of 20 participants each week. The venue is filled with both fine arts students, and amateur painters. These two groups regularly meet up away from the art sessions to discuss their passion over a drink.
For L’âge d’or, this has become an original way to liven up the mezzanine floor without encroaching on the normal activity of the café, and generating a little extra revenue.
