In Rennes, a firm of architects goes mobile
Two young architects from Brittany have founded ‘L’atelier de la comète’, a firm installed in a travelling van.
After starting their careers in classic architecture firms, the architects, Adrien Alanou and Emmanuel Métrard, decided to launch their own agency. Their aim is to be more reactive, closer to their customers, but also – a key advantage for an architect – to be able to visit projects and be on site.
That’s why they decided to set up shop in a van, and travel around as they work following the different projects they are working on.
The van is set up to offer them the same work facilities as in a more conventional office: it measures 12 square meters, there are work tables, computers, a printer, a 4G internet connection and a telephone line…
This proximity is a real added value for customers and allows the agency to benefit from an added competitive advantage.
The firm has covered 27,000 kilometres in the year and a half since it was created. It also won a prize for business creation in 2013.
