In Tarrenz, a brewery has a swimming pool of beer
Who hasn’t dreamed of swimming in a pool of beer? In Tarrenz, in Austria, the Starkenberger brewery allows people to take a dip in this precious liquid…
The brewery in Starkenberger Castle with 195 years of history, is still very much in activity. Recently restored, it is no longer simply a place producing top quality beer with no added chemicals, but also a place to visit and learn.
Despite its remote location, deep in the Austrian countryside, the brewery is able to attract a number of tourists and other curious individuals. While these people can learn plenty on an organised tour, with lots of information on the manufacturing secrets of Starkenberger beer, it’s above all an original, unique experience that is offered at the end of the tour which has become the calling card of the castle.
That’s because visitors have the chance, before they leave, to take a dip in a special swimming pool: each pool is filled, not with thermal water or mud, but more than 42,000 pints of this tasty amber liquid! The beer, which is rich in calcium and vitamins, is apparently good for the skin.
Whether that is true or false, the idea of taking a dip in a refreshing liquid has charmed people… and not just the big drinkers!
