The Hilton hotel in Barcelona is buying into siesta time
Since 2008, the crash has led to a significant drop in hotel room reservations in Spain. To overcome this drop in revenue, the four-star Hilton Diagonal Mar in Barcelona has found an inventive reach around: it now provides rooms for siesta time.
In addition to the room, guests will have the use of all the hotel facilities, such as the pool, gym, computer room, or terrace looking out over Barcelona’s coastline.
And that’s not all, a barbecue and drinks are also included in the room price. Not a bad idea for keeping revenues up, even during the downturn.
According to the hotel’s spokesperson, this move towards expanding the type of services the Hilton offers has been a great success, allowing them to keep their standard rates rather than having to lower them in order to fill the hotel, as some of their competitors have had to do.
