In Versailles, a caterer favours employing Grandmothers
Proving that those over 50 still have a place in business… that’s the gamble of Nos grands-mères ont du talent (Our Grandmothers have talent), a young brand which offers takeaway meals at railway stations.
Promoting the hiring of older people was the objective of Arthur Juin and Jean de Guerre when they entered the restaurant business and opened their first outlet for takeaway dishes in the railway station at Versailles Rive Droite in the autumn of 2014.
Nos grands-mères ont du talent, a concept with a strong social value, allows retired individuals to boost their incomes with a promise: ‘each sales venue is equal to one senior job created!’. For the preparation of meals, as well as logistical operations, the company calls on older members of staff, such as Denys, a 63-year-old chef.
Customers can buy their meals directly on site or order them online, with the menu offering a soup, a main meal and a dessert each week. The cuisine is traditional, 100 percent French, and developed using fresh, quality products and it is always served cold to be reheated at home.
The business has been a success, with two new sales points having opened since the first, in Clamart and Saint Quentin en Yvelines.
